Tokenisation & Digital Ownership for Business
Tokenisation lets a business represent a claim on something, real or digital, as a token. This is general business awareness, not legal or financial advice, as at September 2026.

This course from Blocknorth gives business professionals a clear, practical understanding of tokenisation, representing real things, and purely digital things, as tokens. You will learn how real world asset tokenisation and fractional ownership work, what an NFT does and does not confer, and how tokens support provenance, loyalty and ticketing, honestly and without hype.
Course contents
4 units. Each ends with a 10-question quiz; 8 correct unlocks the next unit.
Foundations of Tokenisation for Business
- What it means to tokenise something, and real world asset tokenisation
- Why businesses are interested: faster transfer, clearer records and dividing ownership
- Fungible and non fungible tokens, sorted out
- Why a token is a record of a claim, not the asset itself, and what tokenisation does not fix
Fractional Ownership of Real Assets
- How fractional ownership divides a whole asset into smaller, tradeable tokens
- Real examples: fractional property, fractional art, and tokenised fund and invoice interests
- The practical questions it raises: management, rights, disputes and selling the whole asset
- Why a proper legal structure has to sit behind any tokenised fraction
Digital Goods, Collectibles and NFTs
- Purely digital goods and collectibles, used in gaming, media and fan engagement
- What buying an NFT actually transfers, and what it does not automatically transfer
- A concrete example of the intellectual property mistake this causes in practice
- Virtual environments and gaming assets as further examples of the same idea
Provenance, Loyalty and Getting It Right
- How tokens provide a verifiable record of origin, and the honest limits of that record
- Tokenised loyalty points and event tickets, and the genuine business benefits involved
- A practical checklist, and who to involve, before adopting tokenisation for anything
