Privacy notice

What we collect when you contact us, why we collect it, who handles it for us, how long we keep it and the rights you have.

Who we are

Business Technology Training is a website selling online courses published by Blocknorth, a UK e-learning publisher. The site is run by Blocknorth Ltd (company number 11441168), whose registered office is 3 Waterloo Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4DR, United Kingdom. Blocknorth Ltd is responsible for your personal data under UK data protection law, which makes it the "controller".

For anything in this notice, email privacy@businesstechnologytraining.com.

The short version

  • The only personal data we collect is what you type into our quote form.
  • We use it to reply to your enquiry and, if your organisation goes ahead, to supply your licence.
  • We do not send marketing email.
  • We use no analytics or advertising cookies, and our visitor counts contain no personal data.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your data.

What we collect

We collect personal data through one form only: the quote form. It asks for:

  • your name
  • your work email
  • your organisation
  • how many people need training (you choose a band)
  • which topics you are interested in (you can choose more than one)
  • a message, if you want to add one

It also carries a consent line.

Nothing else is collected about you. There are no accounts or logins on this site and you cannot pay on it, so we hold no passwords and no payment details.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use what you send us to reply to your enquiry and, if your organisation decides to go ahead, to supply the licence.

Our lawful basis under the UK GDPR is legitimate interest: we have a legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry you have chosen to send us.

We do not send marketing email. We would only do so with your separate consent, and the quote form does not ask for it.

What happens when you send the form

The form is delivered as email. When you send it:

  • a notification of your enquiry goes to our own inbox
  • a short acknowledgement goes to the work email you gave us

We then keep your enquiry in our business mailbox so we can reply and follow it up.

Who handles your data for us

These companies process enquiry data on our behalf:

  • Cloudflare hosts this website, runs the form, checks each submission for automated abuse using its Turnstile service, and forwards email that arrives at our addresses.
  • Resend sends the two emails described above.
  • Google Workspace, which hosts the business mailbox where enquiries are held.

Where your data is processed

Cloudflare runs a global network and may process data outside the UK. It does so under its data processing terms, which include the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. Resend processes our email in Ireland. Google Workspace holds our mailbox in Google's data centres, which may be outside the UK, under Google's data processing terms, which include the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries: 24 months from our last contact with you, then deleted.
  • Licence records, if your organisation buys a licence: for the length of the licence plus 6 years, for our accounts.

Analytics and visitor counts

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how the site is used. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal data.

We also count a few things ourselves: video plays and downloads. We keep these as plain numbers, with no cookies, no IP addresses and no identifiers. They tell us how many, never who.

We do not use Google Analytics, and there are no advertising or social media pixels on this site. Our cookie policy has the detail on cookies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access)
  • have it corrected if it is wrong (rectification)
  • have it deleted (erasure)
  • ask us to limit how we use it (restriction)
  • object to how we use it (objection)
  • receive it in a format you can reuse elsewhere (portability)

To use any of these rights, email privacy@businesstechnologytraining.com. We will reply within one month.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, email privacy@businesstechnologytraining.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
